How to begin a cooking business at events?

Where can my mom begin a cooking business at events?

My mom is a great cook. She wants to sell a famous dish at special events where a lot of people go, mostly latinos. I want to help her and I told her that I would find those crowded places so we can begin. I want to know how and where I can get a spot at these events so we can go in Houston, TX? And what are these events called? If I know the names of the events, perhaps I can look them up online and book them or something. I am so new at this so please advise. Thank you.

  • Create Flyers or small post card size advertisements and pass them out around the neighborhood. Include a picture or description of your moms special dish and contact details. That way you can generate word of mouth business and people can have your card on hand when the topic of special engagements come up.

She’d have to apply to be a vendor. Be prepared to provide a food license and tax ID.

Just about EVERY event in Texas requires a vendor application.

My friend started baking a basket-full of pastries every morning. She would go to all the office buildings and sell them. The office workers were so busy that they couldn’t get out. They bought everything she made. One person asked her if she would like to be a personal chef at his house. She now cooks for a rich family and they love her. She has to be there for dinner 5 nights a week and some lunches. She loves her life. Have your mom get busy.
