How do I Go back to work after being a stay home mom for 14 years?

I have degree, but haven’t worked since I have had kids. I would like to go back part time if possible. I feel I have no skills now. How do I convince an employer to hire me? Should I go to a temp. agency or what? I don’t want to work from home.

I was going to suggest a temp agency. I know they take a percentage but the goal is to lead to stable employment. Also, temp agencies sometimes offer adult education classes at no charge like typing, computer skills, how to interview or write a resume, stuff along those lines. Just make sure you interview with a staffing agency that specializes in professional positions. Might want to steer clear of Labor Ready.
After staying at home for 14 years and you have not stated whether you keep in touch with office work I imagine you are out of touch with the changes that are taking place out there.Since you have decided to go into the working world once again and those people of your age are perhaps more advanced than you and you will face much difficulties being a junior in an office if you do not mind that its OK.You may have to take orders and instructions from a very junior person in the office and received lower salary.
I suggest you go back and take up some courses or studies about doing your own business.You can start small but what ever you earn is yours.You set your own target and be independent.You do not have to come out with big capital.Most famous people start small and becoming big in a short while.some of the best time to do business is when the economy is in recession like what is happening in USA today.What ever it is I wish you luck and welcome to the real world.
