Is it crazy to want to be a young stay-at-home mom?

Am I crazy? I am 19 years old and the only thing I can think of being is a stay home mom. Most of my friends say that I should work and have a career first and then think about having a baby later on when I am older. It seems to make sense but it is not what I want to do.

I really believe at 19 years old and all I want to do is be a stay home mom. I actually want to start having kids with in the next year. But everyone in my family thinks that I am crazy and that I am going to ruin my life. I just don’t know what I want to do? Can someone suggest something? Any advice? Thank you.

How can I make being a Stay At Home Mom work?

Hi there everyone! This is for SAHMS as well as working moms. I was a stay at home mom for awhile and loved being able to spend the time with my kids.

One year ago, however, I had to return to work (due to financial reasons) and I hate it! I have to rush home every day from my 45 hour a week job to accomplish in a few hours what I had all day to take care of before. This include:

  • cramming in laundry,
  • dishes,
  • housecleaning,
  • yard work,
  • spending time with my kids,
  • making supper,
  • lunches for the next day plus
  • any left over work from my job that I have to bring home and do.

When I stayed at home, I was able to spend time with my kids, sure I stayed very busy, but I was able to take care of my kids instead of having a stranger do it. I was able to keep up with housework and do a quality job instead of a rushed one. I miss taking care of my kids and being there for them. My question is, SAHMS, how do you make it work on one income? Any tips would be appreciated! Thank you!!!
