What work can a stay at home mom do for some income?

I am a stay at home mom – what kind of work can I do at home to make some income?

I want to spend time with my son. His dad doesn’t want to put him any daycare so I stay at home. I tried looking for info on work at home but they seem to be fraud. I need some help finding a legitimate one.

How do I accept being a stay at home mom?

I’ve been a stay at home mom for over 4 1/2 years, since I got pregnant with my first right after finishing school and getting married. But I still struggle with not feeling like I’m doing something worthwhile. I couldn’t imagine putting my 3 girls in daycare, and all the money I would make working would probably just go towards paying for the daycare. But I feel like I’m not accomplishing anything all day, when all I do is hold my screaming infant and fulfill my toddler and preschooler’s every whim. Even if I do get chores actually done I still feel like I should be doing more but can’t. Does anyone have any advice or encouragement?

Is it Wrong to Want to be Stay at Home Mom?

My daughter is in daycare and I work full time but want to be a stay at home mom. Is this wrong?

My husband and I both work full-time because we have to, financially (and no we don’t have any extras, just house, 1 car payment and utilities. No cable or cell phones either). I would love nothing more than to stay home with my daughter to guide her and raise her, instead of putting her in daycare all day.

For the year and a half that she has been in daycare, she’s been constantly sick – she gets over one thing, she picks up some other sickness there. I feel soooooo guilty about this. I mean, just as a general consensus from the moms out there, is it bad to have your kids in daycare?

I think that if you have to, then you have to (like my husband and I do), some people don’t have a choice – it’s either that or loose your home and go hungry, you know? Any suggestions for making things work?

I’d like to mention again, we don’t spend $ on any extras, we don’t even go out! I just want to hear what you think on this topic and if you have any suggestions as to how to make it work.

Did you regret quitting your job to be a stay at home mom?

I have a job that I really enjoy but I am also getting burnt out from the stress of work. I am having my first baby soon and I am planning on staying home with our baby.

I am worried that I will quit my job and won’t like staying home 24/7. I want to like staying home and being with my baby, but if I quit my job and change my mind then I won’t get my position back.

I can’t work part time because I will have to put my baby in daycare and pay full-time tuition even if she is only there a few hours a week.

Did you regret quitting your job to be a stay at home mom? Any advice?

Child Care Options

Child care is an important part of any moms who cannot take care of their children themselves because they have to work either at home or outside of home. Finding suitable child care options for your children depends on various factors such as:

  • your budget,
  • your needs, and most importantly
  • the children’s needs.

Here are some of the child care options available to moms.

Full time child care options

Hiring full time help or full time child care for your children is ideal. However, most working moms or work at home moms cannot afford to hire full time child care help. Full time child care is the most expensive child care option but the best for working moms to be able to spend time with their children, even for work at home moms.

Part time child care options

Having part time child care help can free your time to do your work at home. Hiring a part time child care service provider is less expensive than hiring a full time child care service. You need to hire the right person though. You need to check references and make sure that your child will be in good care.

No child care options

If your budget does not allow for any child care services or if you have a need to take care of your children yourself, not hiring any child care services is also a viable child care option for working moms. However, you may find that you have much less time to spend on your work. Also, if you do not work for yourself, it can be impossible to find a job that will allow you to take your child with you.

Other child care options

There are other child care options available to working moms or moms working from home. These child care options tend to be cheaper than hiring professional child care service providers. These child care options are:

  • child care co-op option
  • baby sitting trade option
  • asking older children to watch younger ones
  • hiring an adolescent babysitter
