Child Safety Tips

Instruct your child to contact store employee.

When in stores, working moms may get occupied with what they are shopping for and the children may be wondering off. Instruct your children to contact store employee if they get lost of become separated from you.

Organize an active neighborhood watch group.

An active neighborhood watch group can help tremendously with safety of children. A criminal' s worse enemy is concerned and active citizens. When moms are not at home, especially, working moms must rely more on active concerned other parents.

Strangers are people you don't know.

Working moms must make certain that their children know what strangers are and how to treat them. Children should not contact or go with a stranger unless you give them permission. Do not allow children to approach a stranger's car. Kidnapping is very easy when strangers have access to young children.

Make up a password to share with your child.

Having a password between you and your child is very handy. That way if a stranger tells your child that you sent for him or her or that you need help, you child will ask for a password first.

You child should never tell a stranger on the phone anything.

Children are not so crafty and may not know what strangers on the phone are up to. Sometimes children may give important information away such as that they are home alone giving rise to crimes that can be prevented. Children must not open the door to strangers. They can communicate through a closed door if necessary.

Use safety belts and safety seats.

Never leave your child unattended in the car. Always lock your car and take the keys. In most states it is the law to lock your car and take your keys with you.
